Having trouble accessing your pictures on your digital camera? Or have you unintentionally deleted some pictures that you didn't want to? Or even unintentionally formated your media? I have put together some hopefully useful pointers in order to try to recover your pictures.
Disclaimer: By trying any of the pointers listed on this site, you are risking more damage to your media card and also lowering the chance of recovery.
The reason why I put together this site is that I accidentally erased some pictures from my recently purchased Canon SD100. Having a technical background, I knew the pictures were still there but none of the programs that I downloaded for free could recover my pictures. I ended up reconstructing my pictures by hand. It is a tedious process but if you have the time and are lucky enough to still have the data on the media card, the pictures can be recovered.
Here we go:
First and foremost, you should STOP using the media in your camera, or any other camera for that matter.
Next you should find out whether you caused the problems yourself.
If you accidentally erased the pictures or accidentally formated your media on your camera, follow this link:
If for some reason, you can't access the pictures on your camera, follow this link:
Be warned, your problem could take 5 minutes to fix, or it could take days. If you want to send me your media card for me to try to recover your pictures, drop me an email at
